Floors

Tile Flooring Installation

A tile floor is only as good as what is underneath it. Before any tile goes down, CraftWise checks the subfloor or slab for flatness, cracks, moisture and movement, then plans the layout so cuts land in sensible places, grout lines run true with the room, and transitions to other flooring sit cleanly at doorways.

  • Porcelain tile
  • Ceramic tile
  • Large-format tile
  • Kitchen and living area flooring
  • Hallways and residential spaces
  • Surface preparation and leveling where appropriate

Large-format and plank-style porcelain look best when the surface is properly prepared, because every high or low spot shows up as lippage between tiles. Where the floor needs it, preparation and leveling are discussed and included in the scope before the work begins, not discovered halfway through.

Showers

Custom Showers & Waterproofing

A shower is not waterproof because it is tiled. Grout and tile are the finish; what protects the walls and framing is the assembly behind them. That is why CraftWise treats shower tile as a sequence: a sound substrate, a waterproofing layer applied correctly at corners, seams, niches and changes of plane, a shower floor sloped properly to the drain, and only then the tile.

  • Shower wall tile
  • Shower floor tile
  • Shower pans
  • Waterproofing systems
  • Shower niches
  • Tile replacement
  • Custom shower finishes

Before work starts, we explain which preparation and waterproofing approach is planned for your shower and why, so you know what is going behind the tile and not just what it will look like.

Backsplashes

Kitchen Backsplash Installation

A backsplash is one of the most visible tile surfaces in the home. Clean outlet cut-outs, straight lines along the countertop, even spacing around windows and a tidy finished edge at the end of the run are what make it look built-in rather than added on.

  • Subway tile
  • Porcelain and ceramic backsplash
  • Decorative tile
  • Mosaic tile
  • Custom patterns
  • Accent tile

Smaller backsplash projects can often be scheduled through our Day Projects program. If the backsplash is part of new cabinets and countertops, it belongs in a kitchen remodeling plan.

Bathrooms

Bathroom Tile Installation

Not every bathroom needs a full remodel. Sometimes the right project is new floor tile, a fresh tub surround or an accent wall that changes how the room feels, with the same attention to preparation and finish as a larger job.

  • Bathroom floors
  • Shower walls
  • Tub surrounds
  • Bathroom accent walls
  • Tile replacement

Replacing damaged or cracked tile starts with understanding why it failed. Loose or hollow-sounding tile, cracked grout lines and soft spots can point to a substrate or moisture issue that needs attention before new tile goes in.

How It Works

Our Installation Process

A clear sequence from first conversation to final walkthrough, so you know what is happening at each stage.

  1. Project Consultation

Tell us about the space, the tile you have in mind and what you want the finished result to look like.

  2. Site Assessment

We review the existing floor, walls or shower, take measurements and look for conditions that affect the scope.

  3. Surface Preparation

Removal, repair, leveling and, in wet areas, waterproofing are completed so the tile has a sound base.

  4. Tile Installation

Tile is set to the agreed layout with attention to alignment, spacing, cuts and transitions.

  5. Grouting & Finishing

Grout, trim pieces, edges and transitions are finished and the work area is cleaned.

  6. Final Walkthrough

We walk the finished work with you and review care recommendations for your new tile.

Questions

Tile Installation FAQ

How do tile installation estimates work?

Start by sending a request with a short description of the space and, if possible, photos and approximate dimensions. We review the details, follow up with questions and, when needed, schedule a site visit. Your estimate reflects the area, the tile selected, the condition of the existing surface, the preparation required and the layout. We do not quote a price before we understand the scope.

Should I choose porcelain or ceramic tile?

Porcelain is denser and absorbs less water than ceramic, which makes it a strong choice for floors, showers and high-traffic areas. Ceramic is lighter, easier to cut and widely used for walls and backsplashes. The right choice depends on where the tile goes, the look you want and your budget, and we can talk through the options during your consultation.

Is a tiled shower waterproof on its own?

No. Tile and grout are a finish, not a waterproof barrier. A shower needs a properly prepared substrate, a waterproofing layer applied correctly at seams, corners and niches, and a floor sloped to the drain. We explain the preparation and waterproofing approach planned for your shower before work begins.

Can new tile be installed over existing tile or flooring?

Sometimes. It depends on whether the existing surface is sound, flat and well bonded, and on how added height affects doors, transitions and cabinets. In many cases, and generally in showers, removing the old material down to a sound base is the better long-term choice. We assess the existing surface on site before recommending an approach.

How long does a tile project take?

It depends on the size of the area, the amount of removal and preparation, the tile format and layout, material availability and the time setting materials and grout need. We review the expected schedule with you as part of the estimate rather than promising a timeline before seeing the space.

Do you handle small tile projects as well as larger installations?

Yes. Smaller jobs such as a backsplash, a small floor area or tile repairs and replacements can often be scheduled through our Day Projects program. Larger tile floors and custom showers are planned as dedicated tile installation projects, and complete renovations are handled through our remodeling services.
